Vince Staples, Alchemist & Earl Sweatshirt Worked On Joint Album

Vince Staples reveals he recorded 30 verses for a collaborative album with Alchemist and Earl Sweatshirt before working on his self-titled album.

Vince Staples released his new solo album earlier in July, but that wasnt part of the original plan. During a recent Apple Music interview with Ebro Darden, he revealed he was actually working on a collaborative album Alchemistand Earl Sweatshirt, but things werent moving as quickly as he would have liked. So Im the only one over there rapping and I dont smoke, so it didnt really blend. I was getting headaches. So next thing I know I got 30 verses on 30 beats I thought we was collaborating. Whatever, boom. I got 10 songs, Im like, All right man, we finna put these songs out. Alchemist moves at a very cryptic pace, you know, hes hella slow. Thats when Kenny Beatsstepped in. In less than a month, they recorded enough tracks for multiple albums and trimmed it down to create his self-titled album. Then I get to the point where Im telling Kenny, Im like, Yeah, man. Hes like, Whats up with the Alchemist project? Im like, Man, Im just waiting on the homie. You feel me? You know, weve been getting these stems for a month and a half. Its all good. Then Kenny said, Ah man, just come to the house. We dont never make no music, blah, blah.' Read more
