Jeffery Lamar Williams is an American rapper who performs under the name Young Thug. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 16, 1991, he began making mixtapes in 2013 and released his debut single, "Stoner," one year later. His first commercially-released mixtape, 2015's Barter 6, went to Number 5 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and Young Thug continued cracking the Top 10 with subsequent releases like Slime Season 3, Beautiful Thugger Girls, and the chart-topping Super Slimey. He also enjoyed success as a featured artist on other musicians' material, including Camila Cabello's 2018 hit, "Havana," which topped both Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart. Additional collaborations found him working with Rich Gang and Rich Homie Quan on 2014's "Lifestyle," rapping with Usher on 2016's "No Limit," and joining rapper T.I. on "About the Money." After years of mixtape releases, Young Thug made his full-length album debut with So Much Fun, which topped the Billboard 200 upon its release in 2019. That same year, he picked up the Grammy Award for Song of the Year for his work on Childish Gambino's "This Is America." He returned to Number 1 in April 2021 with Slime Language 2, a collaborative album credited to Young Thug and Gunna. Keeping the collaborative spirit alive, he earned a Top 40 hit that same spring with one of the record's tracks, "Solid," which featured an appearance by Drake. That year, he also dropped his sophomore effort Punk, a star-studded affair that included guest spots by Travis Scott, Post Malone, A$AP Rocky, and many more. The album snatched the top spot on both the Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and became Young Thug’s third US release to debut at Number 1. In May 2022, Young Thug was arrested alongside 27 other members of the Young Thug-founded YSL Records on gang-related charges, accused of violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) act in a 56-count indictment. In June 2023, the rapper issued his third studio album, Business is Business, after 14 months of being in prison. Executive produced by Metro Boomin, the album features a host of YSL Records labelmates and associates including Yak Gotti ("Wit Da Racks") and rap A-listers like Drake ("Parade on Cleveland"), Travis Scott ("Abracadabra"), Future ("Cars Bring Me Out"), Juice WRLD and Nicki Minaj ("Money"), among others.
