Tyler, The Creator

Tyler Gregory Okonma — better known by his moniker Tyler, The Creator — is a controversial voice of independent hip-hop and leader of rap collective OFWGKTA (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All). He was born on March 6, 1991, in Ladera Heights, California, and began making music as a teenager. Spitting wild stories of misogyny, homophobia, and murder, the producer/rapper came to attention with the release of numerous mixtapes through Odd Future's website, including his 2009 debut Bastard. The mixtape earned Tyler a deal with the British alternative label XL Records, while the black-and-white video for his platinum-selling single "Yonkers" only intensified the buzz surrounding his music. Tyler, The Creator's full-length album Goblin was released in 2011 and debuted at Number 5 on the Billboard 200, eventually going gold. His second album, Wolf, followed in 2013 and charted at Number 3, featuring guest appearances from Frank Ocean, Earl Sweatshirt, and Pharrell. 2015's Cherry Bomb was similarly collaborative, with artists like Kanye West and Lil Wayne lending their help to the project. He reached a new level of renown with his fourth album, 2017's Flower Boy, which topped the US Rap charts on the strength of platinum-certified singles like "Who Dat Boy" (featuring A$AP Rocky) and "See You Again" (featuring Kali Uchis). Two years later, Tyler, The Creator scored his first Number 1 album on the Billboard 200 with Igor, with the triple-platinum "Earfquake" becoming his most successful single to date. He repeated the chart-topping feat with 2021's Call Me If You Get Lost, a diverse album co-produced by Tyler himself.
