DaBaby

Jonathan Lyndale Kirk (born December 22nd, 1991), who goes by the name DaBaby, is an American hip-hop performer from Cleveland, Ohio who grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he began rapping professionally in 2014. Releasing several mixtapes a year on his come-up including five installments of the Baby Talk series, he made strides with the 2018 single “21”, which became an online hit, going on to collaborate with acts such as Boosie Badazz, Blac Younsta, Lil Baby, and Moneybagg Yo. Upon its release in late April 2019, his debut album, Baby on Baby, went to Number 7 on Billboard's Top Rap Albums chart, Number 8 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and Number 15 on the Billboard 200. Its lead single, the sleeper hit “Suge”, marked his commercial breakthrough, gradually climbing to Number 7 on the Hot 100 and later obtaining double-platinum certification in the US. Touring the states throughout 2019 while accruing a string of chart smashes alongside the likes of Post Malone, Megan Thee Stallion, Offset and Chance The Rapper, he returned with an eponymous sophomore album, Kirk, in September of the same year, which topped the Billboard 200 and received two Grammy nominations. Maintaining a prolific work rate in 2020, Kirk took the charts by storm in April with his third LP, Blame It on Baby, which, too, debuted at Number 1 in the US, also reaching Number 1 in Canada and the UK Top 10. The album spawned a globally popular single, the Roddy Ricch collaboration “Rockstar”, which found itself atop eight national charts. After collaborating with superstars including Camila Cabello, Jack Harlow, Dua Lipa, Kanye West, and the late Pop Smoke, he closed out the year with an EP dedicated to his late sibling Glenn, My Brother’s Keeper, which peaked at Number 40 in his home country. In 2022, the collaborative mixtape Better Than You, recorded with fellow rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again, cracked the Top 10 of both the Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
