The announcement comes after Abel was named the top finalist at the show this with a nomination in 16 different categories such as Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album and Top Latin Song. The Weeknds Billboard success with his fourth studio album After Hours was remarkable. It became the fourth best-selling album of 2020 with over 2 million copies sold and gave The Weeknd three No. 1s with Heartless, Blinding Lights and Save Your Tears featuring Ariana Grande. Last week, The Weeknd had something to say about the Recording Academy announcing the removal of secret committees created to protect the integrity of the nominations.
