Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner handed Megan the key to the city this past weekend, while also declaring May 2 to be Megan Thee Stallion Day. The date, in particular, is in part a tribute to her late mother, as it was her birthday. Latto also gave Megan her congratulations, commenting This is BIG The mayor told local news that Stallion was selected due to her philanthropic contributions through her non-profit, The Pete and Thomas Foundation The foundation itself was created in honor of her father and her mother and heavily focuses on education, housing, health, and wellness. As part of her ceremony, Megan awarded three people with $5,000 each to help with education, housing, and wellness expenses. Megan Thee Stallion has an extraordinary entertainment career, but we wanted to honor her for what she does offstage to lift peoples lives in underserved communities, Mayor Turner said. She assisted people after the 2021 winter storm, during the pandemic, and helped those struggling with homelessness. I look forward to watching her grow as an artist and humanitarian. He pleaded not guilty to assault and weapon charges related to the shooting. The artists, born Megan Pete, appeared to be distraught at times during the interview.
